A Grand Haiku
I didn’t measure its width, but it was (and proabably still is) a substantial cable – at least an inch in diameter. It seemed out of place, all but completely hidden just off the trail along the semi-wild Folsom Lake State Rreational Area, rusting slowly into oblivion. Sometimes it only takes a few growing seasons for nature to all but overwrite a piece of human history. In cosmic – or even geologic – terms, all of human history itself is may only be akin to a haiku buried deep in the US Library of Congress. Out of place and out of time it may well be, but I’ll still think on this section of cable fondly.
