A Beautiful Wall With Beautiful “Weeds”

A quick internet search will give you list upon list of “images that sell” (people, babies, dogs, old barns, etc). And I’ll confess, I’m drawn to them too. They pluck emotional strings attached to that part of the brain attributed to the heart – stirring nostalgia or resonating with dreams.

The “smart” photographer – one who wants to be commercially successful, perhaps – is right to be mindful of these when creating works for sale. It is a fortunate (and sometimes hungry) artist who does not feel compelled to consider these lists when creating their art.

Though some may read the title of this photo as ironic, I call it this with complete sincerity.
